RENFREW COUNTY PLACE 'A PRUDENT INVESTMENT': SWEET
4/17/2017 9:31:27 AM

Renfrew County Place is starting to pay off for Renfrew County. The county bought the former Canadian Tire building in Renfrew and converted it to a multi-use rental space opening in 2007. Many of the tenants are county services such as the Emergency Services Department, Public Works, Ontario Works, Social Housing, Child Care Office, Enterprise Renfrew County and the Ministry of Correctional Services. This year, the building is contributing $208,000 to the county coffers. Property and Development committee chair Bob Sweet said it a good news story.

Sweet said the county borrowed from its reserves to pay for the purchase and renovations, and is now in the process of paying itself back. Sweet said it has been a prudent investment for the county.
