LONG WEEKEND POLICE CRACKDOWN ON BAD DRIVERS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE RIVER
5/19/2017 4:37:57 PM
Police on both sides of the Ottawa River will be closing a close eye on your driving this long weekend. The Surete Du Quebec, which polices the Pontiac, says its officers will be targetting high risk behaviour that causes collisions such as speed, non-seatbelt use, use of cell phones while driving and impaired driving by alcohol and/or drugs. Meanwhile, the OPP are also targetting the big four as part of Canada Road Safety Week. In addition, the OPP's 2017 Drive Safe! R.I.D.E Campaign was launched yesterday. Its emphasis is on sharing the road - being aware of Ontario's "Move Over" legislation, which requires motorists to pull over to allow emergency vehicles to get by. It also advocates sharing the road with cyclists, making sure pedestrians are safe, and watching out for tow truck personnel at collision scenes.
