UNEMPLOYMENT UP .3 PER CENT FROM MAY

The Unemployment Rate for the Kingston-Pembroke Region stood at 6.7 percent for the month of June, 2017. That's half a percentage point above the Provincial average for the same timeframe, and slightly above the Canada average unemployment rate of 6.5 percent. The month-to-month figure saw Unemployment in the Region rise .3 percent above the rate for May, 2017, while a year ago the Kingston-Pembroke Region reported the Unemployment Rate as standing at 6.1 percent. Provincially, those figures were 6.4 percent in May of this year, and 6.6 percent a year ago. Nationally, the Unemployment Rate stood at 6.8 percent in May, versus a 6.9 percent Unemployment Rate a year ago.
