GM COUNCIL APPLIES FOR COMMUNITY SAFETY ZONE IN GRIFFITH
7/13/2017 7:40:54 AM

Greater Madawaska Council has agreed to apply for a community safety zone in the Village of Griffith. With a concern for public safety, the zone if approved, does not decrease the speed limit, however it will see traffic fines increased or doubled. The section in question is along Highway 41 from Hyland Creek Road to Pine Valley Restaurant and will be clearly marked with signs. Council was told OPP tend to patrol community safety zones with more frequency. Council was prompted to make the application after a resident expressed concerns about high speed on the roadway.
