GREATER MADAWASKA ALREADY WAY OVER BUDGET

Where is the money coming from? That was the question Greater Madawaska Councillor Glen MacPherson wanted answered when council heard the public works department was over their operating budget by roughly 21 thousand dollars. Staff felt confident they were under budget with capital projects, however the money would have to come from reserves if it couldn't be found elsewhere. Councillor Wayne Fraser said he foresaw the Public Works Manager sitting down with the Treasurer to discuss their options and bring a report back to council. A report indicated hard top patching was expected to exceed its budget by ten grand, repairs to a tractor ate through its budget by ten thousand as well and repairs to a backhoe as well as contracted services following a severe winter are also to blame for the additional costs.
