The town of Deep River is sticking with its own police force. According to the North Renfrew Times, town council voted 7-0 this week to "affirm" the Deep River Police Service as the desired policing model for the town. Council went on to say that they will continue to work with the Deep River Police Services Board to deliver excellence in policing to the town of Deep River and explore potential efficiencies and areas of cost savings. The vote came after a long process to gather input from the residents of the municipality including public meetings and a community survey, on whether the town should keep its own force or have the OPP take over policing.
