UOV OPP RELEASE LONG WEEKEND BLITZ RESULTS

The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP has concluded its Labour Day weekend distracted driving campaign. Officers focused on distracted drivers during the provincial traffic safety blitz. In addition to distracted driving, officers also paid attention to aggressive driving, lack of occupant restraint and impaired driving which, in terms of personal injury together make up the "The Big 4". Officers laid 33 speeding charges, seven hazardous moving violation charges, three Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charges, two seatbelt charges and two distracted driving charges. Officers also charged two drivers with Impaired Driving under the Criminal Code.
