ATV CLUB PLANS TRIAL RUN

The Renfrew County ATV Club is hosting a special event in Pembroke this weekend, to determine if ATV's can operate effectively within the city limits. The club has approached the city for permission to use city streets to gain access to the CN corridor and eventually the CP corridor as part of an event to promote a local trail system. Close to 40 ATV's and roughly 60 to 80 people are expected to participate. The trails guide the riders along the CP and CN lines through Whitewater Region, and back to the city. The event comes on the heels of talks between the club and city staff regarding possible locations where ATVs could access the trial system from Pembroke. Mayor Michael LeMay says at a later date, the city will have to take a serious look at how ATVs and the trail system going through Pembroke will be set up, and how it can be made to operate if it is to be a permanent arrangement. The weekend's event is meant to serve as a trial run to see how the system could operate.
