LOCK IT OR LOSE IT, OPP FIND TOO MANY UNLOCKED VEHICLES
11/8/2017 8:47:30 AM

The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP want to remind people that locking their vehicles is the difference in preventing a theft. At the end of October, auxiliary officers with the detachment checked 330 vehicles throughout Petawawa and at Pembroke's West End Mall. Officers found 38 unsecure vehicles, 35 unlocked cars and three with windows down, and 21 of those vehicles had valuables including purses in plain sight. Officers left behind small pieces of paper with simple safety precautions. So far in 2017, the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment has received 84 reports of thefts from vehicles.
