Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and the town of Deep River have signed off on a historic new partnership. Earlier today (Monday), the town and one of Renfrew County's biggest employers signed an interim agreement that will see CNL's Fire Operations provide training, organization and management of Deep River's fire services until June 30th of next year. The agreement includes that the Chalk River Labs Fire Operations will provide a Fire Chief and Deputy Chief to the town's fire service and all current fire fighters within the municipality will now be under the mangement of the CNL department. The cost for the personnel will also be handled by Deep River. Mayor Joan Lougheed says this is a huge building block for the town.

President and CEO of CNL, Mark Lesinski says he is thrilled that they can provide a much needed service to their host community.

During the time of this agreement, both parties will be working to negotiate a comprehensive, long term Fire Protection Services Agreement for the town of Deep River.
