TRIPLE MURDERER HANDED THREE LIFE SENTENCES WITH NO PAROLE FOR 70 YEARS

The man who murdered three women in Renfrew County over two years ago will die in prison. Basil Borutski was handed his sentence late this morning - three life sentences with no eligibility of parole for at least 70 years. When handing down the sentence, Justice Robert Maranger says September 22nd, 2015 will forever be remembered as a day of sorrow, terror and sadness. A friend of the court had been hired to look out for Borutski's interests as the 60 year old did not speak for himself in court, and they had urged the court to consider hope for rehabilitation. Justice Maranger noted that while he agrees with that statement, he says Borutski's character and the horrendous crimes he committed needed to be taken into better consideration, which is why Borutski has 70 years of parole ineligibility. The Palmer Rapids man was convicted late last month of first-degree murder in the fatal shootings of Anastasia Kuzyk and Nathalie Warmerdam, and of second-degree murder in the strangling of Carol Culleton.
