AIRPORT COMMISSION RESPONDS TO CRITICISM FROM PETAWAWA COUNCILLORS

After hearing a suggestion that they -- quote -- "fly by the seat of their pants", the Pembroke and Area Airport Commission says it wants to set the record straight. The commission came under fire during a recent Petawawa council meeting, when Councillors James Carmody and Theresa Sabourin said they had concerns about what they perceive is a lack of accountability on the part of the commmission. One complaint was about the lack of regular agendas and minutes for commission meetings. Not so, says Airport Commission Chair Allen Wren, who says agendas and minutes are sent by email to all members of the commission, which Petawawa belongs to. In a letter responding to a story done by myFM News this week, Wren writes that they asked all commission members if they were receiving the agendas and minutes and all said yes, except Petawawa and when asked to provide the dates of the missing agendas, the town's commission members were not able to do so. The Airport Commission is made up of appointed individuals from six municipalities including Petawawa, as well as the Garrison. The commission recently asked all of its member municipalities for contributions to Project Runway, but Petawawa declined, citing the lack of a business plan.
