Some changes may be coming to fire permits in the Town of Petawawa. At Monday night's (Apr 9) council-in-committee meeting, council unanimously supported a resolution to amend the by-laws around permits in the town. Fire Chief Steve Knott explains some of the proposed changes revolve around what type of fire it is.

Permit rates would also be changing. A 'recreational' permit, or a fire on a lot that is under three acres, would cost $25, and applicants would have to pay a $25 inspection fee before being issued a permit. These changes come after 14 years of no changes to the fire permit by-law.
