Students are being encouraged to participate in JERSEY DAY tomorrow (Thursday, April 12th) in honour of the victims of the Humboldt Broncos tragedy.   All schools in both the Public and Catholic School Boards in Renfrew County will be taking part. In Pembroke, Fellowes Principal Amy Johnson says Jersey Day participation will be big.

Johnson says Fellowes is a hockey hotbed.

Jennifer Schooley is Vice-Principal at Eganville Public School, and her school's activities are likely typical of events taking place throughout the Renfrew County on Thursday.

Schooley says if a child doesn't have a jersey, someone will be at the Eganville Arena Wednesday night from 6-7 p.m. to loan out jerseys that the minor hockey association doesn't use. Also, the Paul J. Yakabuski arena in Barry's Bay will be open on tonight from 6-8pm and will donate old jerseys to anyone who needs one. Jaimie Perry, Director of Education for the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board says "Catholic school communities are joining Jersey Day to show support for the Humboldt Broncos, their families and the wider community during this time of grieving."
