COUNTY WARNS OF DANGERS OF JAPANESE KNOTWEED
4/12/2018 11:00:45 AM

When you're doing your spring lawn cleanup, you may want to be on the lookout for another dangerous weed. Weed inspector for the County of Renfrew, Jason Davies, says that while Japanese Knotweed isn't on the noxious weeds list, it's still dangerous.

The reason the weed is dangerous is that its root system is very aggressive and can cause lots of damage to public works structures and cement foundations. Davies says if you spot something you think may be Japanese Knotweed, to give him a call at 613-735-7288. Davies also says Wild Parsnip has also started to sprout up throughout the county.
