LIBERAL AND PC PARTY CANDIDATES ALREADY FIGHTING OVER BROADBAND 5/11/2018 9:05:12 AM
We're just two days into the official campaigning for the June 7th Ontario Election, and already there's some sparring over the pledged 71 million dollars in funding to support the Eastern Ontario Regional Networks plans for improved cellular coverage in the area. Although not on his announced agenda for May 9th, PC leader Doug Ford met with Eastern Ontario Wardens Caucus representatives about the EORN project at Renfrew Town Hall before the big PC Rally at Renfrew Armories. Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP John Yakabuski, who joined Ford in discussions, could not commit to keeping the funds promised as part of the current government's budget.
Liberal candidate for the riding, Jackie Agnew, thinks the investment is something voters won't want to throw away.
Renfrew County Warden Jennifer Murphy, part of the EOWC, believes all parties in the legislature have made a commitment to move the cellular expansion forward.
