This Sunday marks the 50th anniversary of a devastating tragedy.

On May 8, 1968, seven paratroopers died in the worst military training accident in Canadian histor, and they landed in the cold waters of the Ottawa River.

Dennis Stow is the organizer of the annual memorial, and he says he hopes this one is the biggest yet.

Stow is also advising that people show up prior to the 11 a.m. Sunday (May 13) start to ensure they have time to find the location and a sport during the memorial.

The paratroopers who passed away served in the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment and teh 2nd Signals Squadron.
