AUDITOR FLAGGED OVER PAYMENT FOR N-A-W COUNCIL
5/14/2018 9:01:41 AM

It's not a local version of the Phoenix Payroll System that has plagued employees of the federal government with late payment, no payments, or over-payments- but a matter of the overcompensation of councilors has arisen in North Algona Wilberforce. Chief Administrative Officer Andrew Sprunt tells myFM that auditors reviewing the Township's books for the last fiscal year flagged the issue.

Apparently, none of N-A-W's five council members caught the mistake of being paid twice for May of 2017 at the time. A staff report on the matter was presented at the North Algona Wilberforce municipal meeting of May 8th, and the recommendation of paying the money back was unanimously approved by Council.
