MORE DETAILS IN RENFREW FIRE CHIEF SAGA EXPECTED MONDAY
5/14/2018 9:13:53 AM

This afternoon we'll learn Renfrew council's response to a lawsuit threatened by Guy Longtin's lawyer. The former Renfrew Fire Chief was forced into retirement last Monday (May 7) when the town passed a policy saying no one working for the fire department can be over the age of 60, and Longtin is 61. On Thursday, a letter from his lawyer made several demands they wanted met by noon Friday which says the policy was to be rescinded, a sincere, written apology was to be signed by all members of council, the town is to cover all of Longtin's legal expenses and the final demand was for Mayor Don Eady to step down. Reeve Peter Emon told myFM that a statement would be issued this afternoon, so stay tuned for the latest.
