CROSS COUNTRY WALK LOOKS TO BRING HOPE TO YOUTH IN CRISIS

It's a call to action for Indigenous and non-Indigenous police officers that have worked with youth in crisis. Hope in the Darkness is a national walk to draw awareness to youth mental health issues, and founder Kevin Redsky will be pounding the pavement here in the Ottawa Valley this weekend. Bob Campbell, who did part of the journey from the West, says it's important to get our youth involved in a dialogue about the issues they're facing today.

Campbell says they chose to walk because they wanted to get the message out to youth over a long period of time. Redsky started his walk in Newfoundland and is expected to arrive in Arnprior tomorrow (Friday). On Saturday he'll walk to Horton, Sunday he'll make his way to Pembroke, Monday to Chalk River and on Tuesday he'll arrive in Stonecliffe. He's expected to reach Winnipeg in August. Details of their route can be found on the event's website.
