FIRST EVER OPEN EYED VALLEY PRIDE FESTIVAL TO BE HELD SATURDAY
6/8/2018 1:01:07 PM

The first ever Open Eyed Valley Pride festival is this Saturday (June 9). The event is building off of the Pride Parade that has been held in Pembroke in the past, but this year there will be a family brunch at the Courtyard Bistro from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the festival itself at the Champlain Trail Museum from 2 to 5 p.m., that'll feature live music, kids activities, vendors, a BBQ, a human library and more. There will also be an after party at Milanos that'll feature live music and a drag show. One of the festival's organizers, Jill Holroyd says that as the mother of a transgender child, she understands the importance of allies and support.

Holroyd adds that it's been inspiring to see all of the support the festival has garnered.

There will be prize giveaways and lots of things going on Saturday as part of the festival, and Holroyd says the hope is that people can come together, celebrate, learn and work together to create a more safe and inclusive community. (Pictured: Pembroke Pride parade)
