FIRST ANNUAL PRIDE FESTIVAL A SUCCESS

Pembroke's first ever Pride Festival was a major success. Open Eyed Valley Pride was held at the Champlain Trail Museum, and one of the organizers, Jill Holroyd, says it was time to expand from what they've done in the past.

Holroyd adds that they may incorporate a parade into next year's festivities as people mentioned they wanted a festival and a parade. One of the features at Saturday's festival was a Living Library, and organizer Amanda Schroeder says it's a way to connect to someone's story.

At least 300 people attended the festival, and the plan is to expand celebrations going forward.
