Money from the Ontario Municipal Commuter Cycling Program is coming in handy in Renfrew County. It's being put to use on 8.5 kilometres of the Algonquin Trail from Town Centre Boulevard in Petawawa to the Forest Lea Overpass in Pembroke. Chair of the Development and Property Committee, Bob Sweet, says he's thankful the government has provided funding to help the county get the trail to where they want it.

At the latest County Council meeting, a $243,564 tender was awarded to H&H Construction for a quarry limestone crusher dust suppy and delivery on the section of trail. In total, OMCC funding is providing $372,360 to the county.
