With the prolonged heat and little rain in the forecast, many municipalities are putting burn bans in place. The latest are in Bonnechere Valley Township, Laurentian Valley, North Algona Wilberforce, Whitewater Region and Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards Townships. This means no open air burning, including wood burning fire places, burn barrels, outdoor fireplaces and in many instances campfires. In addition, they're not issuing any new burn permits until the ban is lifted. Laurentian Valley Township is honouring recreational burn permits at this time, but you should monitor their website for any changes. As the heat wave continues, it's best to confirm with your municipality before burning of any kind takes place.
