In October of 2010, Monique Yashinskie’s son was diagnosed with depression.
Ten months later, Robbie passed away.
Since then, Monique has dedicated her life to helping those who are struggling with mental health.
In June 2012, she was invited by the President and CEO of the West Champlain Healthy Community Corporation, Jeffrey Weatherill, to address his Board of Directors. WCHCC identified the need to fill gaps in the existing mental health system.
With the help of West Champlain, many caring people and community organizations, they were able to create a beacon of hope for Renfrew County – The Robbie Dean Family Counselling Centre.
Seven years later, the centre is now able to offer counselling services in five communities in Renfrew County.
