The Town of Deep River is paving its own sidewalks this year. The municipality has hired a crew of summer students and a local contractor with experience in concrete sidewalk installation in an effort to get more work done at a better cost. Director of Public Works, Sean Patterson, says they are doing a wide variety of different projects around town this year so they can get a feel for how long it will take to finish a job.
Patterson says traditionally, the township contracted out the work, but he thinks they will get more bang for their buck this way. Crews will start pouring on a section of sidewalk near the Deep River Public Library today, with the main focus being on the downtown core and sidewalks in desperate need of work.
