The Shawville Fair is expecting to bring in over 35,000 people over the course of the long weekend. Festivities kick off today (Thursday, August 29th) and continue until Monday night. Gates open for the fair this afternoon at 4:00 pm with the opening ceremonies set for 7:30 pm. President of the fair, Tyler McCann, says they have a midway, truck and tractor pulls, demolition derby’s, a petting zoo and wide variety of farm animals and horticultural displays. McCann says there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy, which is why they get they are considered the valley’s most family friendly fair.
Sass Jordan takes to the stage Friday night, the Hunter Brothers play on Saturday and Brett Kissel will headline the Shawville Fair on Sunday. Admission is $15 on Thursday and Monday and $20 for the rest of the weekend which includes admission to all the rides, shows and concerts. On the fairs website it says you will not be allowed in if you’re intoxicated and all minors caught drinking will be expelled with no re-entry. There is a beer gardens on site, but ticket sales stop at midnight and no drinks will be served after 12:30 am.
