The 44th edition of the old time Fiddling and Step Dancing Contest in Pembroke is underway this long weekend. Every Labour Day Weekend you will find the best fiddlers and step dancers in Canada gathered together in Pembroke. Riverside Park is transformed into Fiddle Park, and thousands flock to Pembroke to enjoy traditional fiddle music and step dancing. It started in 1975, when a group of friends who loved to get together and play their fiddles decided it was time to make it an annual event. Admission to the PMC ranges from $5 to $15 over the weekend. New this year is the Saturday Night Open where Fiddling Finalists will play a waltz, jig and reel followed by “TUNE OF CHOICE” in a span of 5 minutes.
