It’s going to cost just short of $160,000 to return Centennial Park in Petawawa to the way it looked before the flooding. Director of Community Services for the Town of Petawawa, Kelly Williams, says council has awarded the tender for the Centennial Park and Millennium Trail repairs to RGT Clouthier Construction. Williams says work is expected to start mid-October and wrap up by the end of November. He says work will include replacing park benches, the interlocking brick and play structures so the park looks the same.
Williams says previous donations of $1,000 from the Petawawa Legion and a donation of $2,500 from the Lions Club on Monday night to the town’s flood relief fund shows how important Centennial Park is.
The project will be paid for out of the town’s parks reserve fund which has $450,000. Earlier this year, Petawawa put $100,000 into reserves for future repairs to the Catwalk. Funds received later through insurance claims or the Municipal Disaster Relief Assistance will be placed back into reserves to offset the costs.
