The Town of Petawawa is applying for funding to renovate the Civic Centre. Director of Community Services Kelly Williams says they will be applying for a grant to replace the floor and boards at the arena. He says the Civic Centre is almost 50-years old and the floor is the same age so they want to replace it before any major problems come up. Williams says it’s a competitive bidding process with recreation funding not coming around too often.
Williams adds they will be putting forward $650,000 and asking for about $750,000 from the provincial and federal government under the recreation stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. Williams says if they don’t get the funding, they will have to wait another couple of years before going ahead with the project.
