Work restoring Centennial Park in Petawawa has been completed in time for the winter months. The Director of Community Services, Kelly Williams, says they had some delays in November due to the extreme cold temperatures, but were able to lay the asphalt to restore the trail. Williams says they still need to install some benches and do gardening work in the spring, but the trail is open and will be maintained through the winter.
Back in October the town approved repairs to the flood damaged Centennial Park at a cost of $160,000. The repairs were completed at the start of December. As for the catwalk retaining wall the Director of Community Services for the Town of Petawawa says it remains under review by the Department of Oceans and Fisheries. Williams says the plan is to clean up the damage and do work to protect the head of the island where the two catwalk walls join. He’s hopeful all the permissions will be in place by construction season next year.
