Some local swimmers recently took home gold at the Eastern Ontario Regional Championships. The Petawawa Predators Swimming Club sent five athletes to the competition in Nepean between January 31st and February 2nd.
Christopher Lavoie won gold in the 50 Freestyle event and also took home three silver and one bronze medal. Malachi Kenny powered his way to a gold medal in the 50 Breaststroke, with two silver and two bronze. Both athletes compete in the 11-12 year old age group.
Gabriella Morris was stellar in achieving four top-fifteen results out of six races in the 11-12 year old age group. Alice Chubak scored three top-thirty results in the 13-14 year old age group, highlighted by an outstanding 12th place finish in the 50 Breaststroke.
Skye Crouzat raced her way to three top-ten finishes in the 15 and older age group. Her performance included a fourth-place finish in the 50m Backstroke, only .81 seconds outside of a medal position, while also achieving a sixth place in the 50m Butterfly and seventh place in the 50m Freestyle.
