The Ottawa Senators were a busy team today making many deals including one that will see a hockey player from Petawawa play for the Sens. The deal sees a 7th round pick in 2020 and Aaron Luchuk to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for 26-year-old Matthew Peca from Petawawa. Peca was selected in the 7th round of the 2011 draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. In 34 games with the Laval Rockets this year Peca has 4 goals and 9 assists for 13 points. Peca arrived shortly after puck drop and joined the Ottawa Senators in Columbus for the game tonight.
The Senators also traded away leading scorer Jean-Gabriel Pageau to the New York Islanders. Pageau was then signed a six-year extension with an average annual value of five million dollars (US). The Senators received a conditional first-round pick in 2020, a second-round selection in 2020 and a conditional third-rounder in 2022 for the Ottawa native. Ottawa also traded away Vladislav Namestnikov and Tyler Ennis for draft picks.
