The Kanata Lasers decision to move to Renfrew was prompted by poor attendance at their Kanata games.
As reported by myFM yesterday, the Junior A Lasers are moving to Ma-Te-Way, and have been rebranded the Wolves.
The CCHL Junior A Lasers’ average attendance was only about 35 to 40 fans per game.
The new owners are Jim and Natalie Sayers and Ryan Leonard, who is the current owner and coach of the Cochrane Crunch in Northern Ontario,
Leonard, who will also be coach and manager of the new Renfrew Wolves, says it was imperative to make the announcement now, ahead of the upcoming CCHL Bantam Player Draft.

Leonard’s group also now owns the Renfrew Junior B Timberwolves, which will be relocating to a rink nearby, possibly Cobden’s Astrolabe Arena, should the Whitewater Kings Tier 2 transfer to Petawawa go through.
Audio PlayerRenfrew Mayor Don Eady, long an advocate of a Junior A franchise for the Town, estimates the economic spin-off to be an annual half-million dollars for the community.
