Ontario’s Liberals are meeting in convention on Friday and Saturday of this week to choose a new leader to replace former Premier Kathleen Wynn.
Oliver Jacob is a Vice-President with the Provincial Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke constituency association, and a delegate to his party’s leadership vote.
Jacob says most of the Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke delegates are pledged to support Steven Del Duca.
The R-N-P Liberal Vice-President says delegates may cast their ballots Friday evening until 11PM.
The announcement of a winner’s name is expected Saturday at Noon- however, if more than one ballot is required, the new Liberal leader will be announced later on Saturday.
The contenders are former Cabinet Ministers Mitzie Hunter, Micheal Coteau and Steven Del Duca.
The other nominees are newcomers: Kate Graham and Alvin Tedjo who both ran for the Ontario Liberals in 2018, while Brenda Hollingsworth is an Ottawa lawyer.
The Liberals do not currently have official party status at Queen’s Park, as they failed to elect enough MPPs to meet that threshold.
