The Municipality of Pontiac is sharing information regarding the coronavirus situation.
If you’re flying back from a country affected by COVID-19 you’ll be asked specific questions about your health. If you are returning home with no symptoms it’s important to monitor your health. Anyone with a fever, cough and difficulty breathing with a positive travel history to an affected country or contact with someone who’s been infected should reach out to public health officials and self-isolate for 14-days. Anyone experiencing symptoms may be taken in for a medical examination by a quarantine officer.
Anyone who thinks they may have COVID-19 or who wants to obtain information is asked to call the department of health and social services for further instruction. In Renfrew County anyone who thinks they may have the coronavirus is asked to NOT go into the hospitals where there’s an increased risk of spreading the sickness and instead call the local health unit.
Preventative measures include proper hygiene, covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze and washing your hands frequently with an alcohol based disinfectant or soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Information kits regarding the coronavirus are available to residents in Quebec on the provincial website.
With the number of cases growing daily, we still have yet to see COVID-19 confirmed in Renfrew County or the Pontiac.
