Garrison Petawawa tells members to stay home, restricts visitor access and shuts down facilities

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic Garrison Petawawa is restricting access to the base and telling defense team members to stay home. In a release issued by Commander Colonel Louis Lapointe he says preventative measures are being taken over the next couple weeks to ensure the health and safety of the defence team and members of the community. Essential unit level tasks will continue. Changes will also impact the Base Medical Clinic. The clinic will be fully closed until Monday March 16th at 1:00 pm to give staff time to move in and get ready.

Some Public Service staff are obliged to work from home. This means there will absolutely be last-minute cancellations. If your appointment can safely wait, please wait. The Base Medical Clinic will be operating out of door to maintain positive control. CDU2 will have the only open doors. Dental, Pharmacy, Lab, X-Ray, and Nurse Case Management will all be available in some capacity. Physio will essentially be unavailable. The Warrior Support Centre will also be forced to cancel patients during our COVID response. They will have some flexible booking slots.

Garrison members in need urgent help or immediate access for mental health concerns you’re asked to go to PRH Emergency Department, call CFMAP at 1-800-268-7708 or call 911 in emergency situations.

All visitors to the Garrison without a work related purpose can expect to be turned away. Delivery and courier services and authorized contractors will still be allowed on base. Montgomery Gate, McCurdy Gate, and Levin Gate will be closed until April 6th. The General Frederick Gate (Front Gate) will remain open with restricted access. During this time the Garrison Auxiliary Security Force will be conducting ID checks.

Dundonald Hall Facility (Gym/Pool)
Army Fitness Centre
Troyes Cinema
Silver Dart Arena
All Messes
The Garrison Museum
