The Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) plans to put additional safeguards in place early this week regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Other hospitals and health care centres across Renfrew County have started restricting visitor access and screening everyone who enters. The PRH says they will announce any changes on their social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
So far we have no reported cases of the novel coronavirus in Renfrew County, but the number of cases in the Ottawa area continues to grow. The total number of cases in Canada is over 300 with most people experiencing mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough. The vast majority of those who contract the virus recover.
Anyone who suspects they have symptoms of COVID-19 (which include a fever, cough, shortness of breath) is asked to NOT go into the hospital and instead contact the Renfrew County District Health Unit at 613-735-8653 ext. 577 as soon as possible.
