Environment Canada has issued a heat warning in Renfrew County calling for daytime humidex values to hit 35 degrees for the better part of this week. The first heat event of the season is expected Tuesday to Thursday.
Daytime temperatures in the low 30’s are expected Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with humidex values in the mid to upper 30’s.
Showers and cooler temperatures are expected late Thursday or Thursday night.
You’re reminded to drink plenty of water (even before you feel thirsty) and stay in a cool place. Don’t leave people or pets in parked vehicles.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
