The Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) has new equipment that allows them to process 100 blood test samples per hour.
The Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) has partnered with the PRH to invest in the new state of the art equipment to enhance testing capabilities and procedures across the region.
This week (Tuesday, June 16th), staff started using the new Sysmex Analyzer.
Lab Manager Chetan Jariwala says extensive testing and training was done to ensure the highest quality results for patients and staff. She adds lab test results can influence up to 70% of medical decision making so it’s important results are as accurate as possible for both physicians and patients.
The PRH is the second largest regional laboratory site in Eastern Ontario next to Ottawa. Lab Director Doctor David Colantonio says this is an investment in the needs of the local community that will contribute to better patient care.
Director of Diagnostic Imaging at the PRH and Liaison for the regional lab association, Jim Lumsden, says this shows the ongoing efforts by the Pembroke Regional Hospital and EORLA to bring high quality care close to home for the residents of Renfrew County.
