The two indoor movie theaters in Pembroke and Petawawa will be open this weekend.
The Algonquin Cinemas will reopen tomorrow (Friday, August 14th). The information line for the movie theater inside the Pembroke Mall says they have implemented COVID-19 safety protocols and spaced the seats out. Algonquin Cinemas will not have matinees for the first two weeks and will only have one showing at 7:30 pm. Movies playing for opening weekend include Irresistible, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run and Unhinged. The Troyes Cinema in Petawawa has been open since August 7th. Regulations allow for a maximum of 50 people indoors with 2 meter distancing and everyone must wear a mask. Movie theater seats will be cleaned between each showing, hallways will be one way and one person from each group should be responsible for getting snacks. The theater will also be set up to allow for proper social distancing between groups. This weekend The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is playing at the theater in Petawawa. The Skylight Drive-In on Forest Lea Road in Pembroke has been open through the COVID-19 pandemic with safety precautions in place. Tonight (Thursday, August 13th) the drive-in will be playing Jurassic Park and Jaws. Starting tomorrow night (Friday, August 14th) you can watch Sing and the Secret Life of Pets at the Skylight Drive-In. More information can be found online here.
