
Jack Oattes is from Cobden, where he along with his father; Craig and wife; Lauren operate Oattes Cattle. Their Charolais & Simmental seedstock operation emphasizes balanced trait selection with practical, eye appealing cattle that excel in all facets of beef production. They host a bull sale the first Friday in March on the farm, and sell females and frozen genetics privately year-round. Jack attended Blinn College in Brenham, TX where he was a member of a nationally competitive livestock judging team. He continued his education at Kansas State University where he studied Animal Science and was a member of the 2015 team that were named American Royal champions. Individually Jack had several successes in the livestock judging arena as well and was recognized as the high individual overall at the national contest held at North American International Livestock Expo in Louisville, KY being the first Canadian to do so since 1925. He has judged cattle shows across Canada and in 12 US States and also coached the University of Illinois livestock judging team while obtaining his Masters degree in Ruminant Nutrition. Presently, in addition to his cattle operation he consults for BioZyme Inc. across North America in the field of animal nutrition.
