Pembroke Mayor Mike Lemay plans to organize a diversity roundtable to discuss racism and discrimination.
As part of his weekly address to local residents, Lemay says he was saddened to hear about recent events in Pembroke involving a local senior.
He says this incident demonstrates the need for us to work harder to promote welcoming values and show our residents that acceptance of all is the only way forward.
Lemay says they are in the process of organizing a Mayor’s Diversity Roundtable which will include Cindy Tran, the granddaughter of the senior attacked last month in Pembroke, and other people of colour from diverse backgrounds in the community.
