The 11 food banks in Renfrew County have set-up a new website to help those in need.
The website lists all the County’s food banks, where to find them, their hours of operation, and how to donate to them. It also features a news section and contacts for a variety of social services.
Volunteer with the Petawawa Pantry food Cheryl Paquette says this website allows them to reach a lot of people who they couldn’t previously.
Paquette says help is available, but some people aren’t coming forward to local food banks.
She says some people who need food simply don’t know the help is available and others may feel uncomfortable about asking for help .
Paquette wants people to know that local food banks are run by neighbours who really care and want to help other during stressful situations.
Local food banks include the Arnprior and District Food Bank, Calabogie and Area Food Bank, Cobden and District Food Bank, Deep River Area Food Bank, Eganville and District Community Food Bank, Killaloe Food Bank, Madawaska Valley Food Bank, Petawawa Pantry, Renfrew and District Food Bank, The Sharing Place – Enaji Madinamage MidJm (Golden Lake) and St. Joseph’s Food Bank – Pembroke.
The new website for Renfrew County Food Banks was set up and designed by volunteers from the Stone Fence Theatre.
It was built by Evan Burgess of Blue North Studios, artwork was done by Beverly Lewis of Eganville and the site is managed by producer at the Stone Fence Theatre, Ish Theilheimer.
