The Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) and Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB), have confirmed that two students at Valour JK-12 School in Petawawa, have positive laboratory-confirmed cases of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).
It has been confirmed that both cases were contracted outside of the school and there has been no confirmed spread within the school at this time.
All students and staff who have been deemed to be a close contact of the positive cases, have been given direction to go home immediately to self-isolate and arrange for testing.
The school remains open to in-person learning for all other students and staff.
The RCDHU is working closely with the school board to ensure necessary measures continue to be in place to protect all staff, students and the public. Staff are actively investigating the case and all high risk contacts will be contacted within 24 hours for further instructions.
The health unit is reminding residents to complete the COVID-19 self-assessment tool or COVID-19 school and child care self-assessment tool daily.
