The former head of the Canadian Forces has been appointed to lead the deployment of COVID-19 vaccines in Ontario.
General Rick Hillier retired in 2008 after serving for three years as chief of defence staff.
Premier Doug Ford says Hillier was chosen for the job because rolling out new COVID vaccines will take an expert in logistics.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says the province will receive 1.6 million doses of Pfizer’s new vaccine and 800-thousand doses of Moderna’s vaccine next year.
