Garrison Petawawa is setting up a drive-by light show for military families this holiday season.
Brigades and units on the Garrison are decorating a one kilometer stretch of forested roadway this week.
Each unit will have 200 meters and are able to incorporate military vehicles and colourful lights into their displays.
News about the drive-by light show at the Garrison was shared as part of the virtual commanders lunch last week.
Lieutenant-Colonel Melanie Lake, the Commanding Officer of 2 Combat Engineer Regiment, says they really wanted to allow local residents to attend, but with restrictions coming down from the national level to keep bases closed to the general public that wasn’t possible this year.
Military personnel and families will be invited to drive-thru the display starting November 30th until December 4th.
The Garrison Petawawa drive-by light show will be similar to the Wesley Clover Park lights display in Ottawa.
Local residents can drive to Wesley Clover Park to experience the light show in Ottawa every night from 5:00pm to 10:00pm until January 9th.
The cost per carload to attend the Wesley Clover Parks Magic of Lights show is $30 at the gates Monday to Thursday and $35 from Friday to Sunday.
There’s also contactless payment options available with tickets for only $22.
