The saga of Pembroke dentist Dr. Christy Natsis has come to an end following disciplinary action by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons..
The Ottawa Citizen reports that Natsis is losing her dentist licence for six months, receiving a formal reprimand and having her professional behaviour and her sobriety monitored for the next 2 1/2 years as a result of a disciplinary hearing on Thursday (November 26th).
The Pembroke dentist first gained notoriety nearly ten years ago when a drunk-driving incident claimed the life of 50 year-old Bryan Casey in Highway 17 near Arnprior March 31st of 2011.
All-in-all, Natsis served 14 months of a five-year sentence for impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and breaching release conditions by buying alcohol.
Natsis’s suspension from professional practise will take effect later next month, giving her time to complete some of her patients’ previously scheduled appointments. She must pay the college $7,500 in costs and will be monitored for her compliance with conditions until April 2023.
