It has been an unprecedented year for residents and staff in long-term care homes. County of Renfrew director of long-term care, Shelley Sheedy, says they had to adapt and make changes on a daily basis.
Sheedy says since March the emergency operations centre for the county has been meeting at least once per week.
The director of long-term care for the County of Renfrew says there’s a lot to look forward to in 2021. Sheedy talked about implementing the “butterfly approach” at Bonnechere Manor and Miramichi Lodge and the creation of a seniors housing strategy (pending approval from county council).
While there’s no timeline on when local healthcare workers will get the COVID-19 vaccine, Sheedy says that’s something else to look forward in the New Year.
Sheedy wanted to send a huge thank you to all residents, families, staff, management and the community for showing patience, co-operation and support during the pandemic.
