There’s still spots available to sign up for free Personal Support Worker (PSW) training at Willis College. President and CEO at Willis College, Henry Devlin, says they will offer four days of virtual learning a week with one day volunteering at a local care home.
Devlin says scholarships will be offered to 300 students for the full cost of tuition and books.
The Willis College President and CEO expects people of all ages to apply, but says they’re looking for people who want to make a difference and help residents.
The first intake to the PSW 300 program is currently underway. Devlin expects to have 300 active people trying to get into the program by the middle or end of February. Anyone calling today will likely be looking at the February intake.
The free PSW training is a 30-week program that includes an 8-week full-time placement at a long-term care home. Devlin says they’ve talked to long-term care homes from Pembroke to Cornwall to try and send students to a care home close to their community.
